Summer Fun & Wellness Festival Hosted by St. Vincent’s Healthcare Foundation
The Jacksonville Farmers Market is not just a place for business, as many found out on Saturday. St. Vincent’s Healthcare Foundation hosted the Summer Fun & Wellness Festival at the market to promote health and wellness. The stalls were packed with vendors selling their fresh produce and goods.
Moody Chisholm, the CEO of St. Vincent’s Healthcare, gave an excellent speech outlining the goals of the Summer Fun & Wellness Festival. One of the main goals is to promote healthy eating in our communities. Chisholm understands and fully supports the need for the Jacksonville Farmers Market. “We are committed to the health of the people in this community,” said Chisholm. “This is the best access folks in this community have to healthy foods.”
St. Vincent’s Healthcare came out in full force, with many volunteers and employees helping to put on the event. All the volunteers from St. Vincent’s came fully committed to the cause. “Healthy living and nutrition are so important to being preventative,” said Roxanne C. Miller, a St. Vincent’s employee.
For some, the Jacksonville Farmers Market is a new opportunity for not only healthy living, but also growth and development. Dennis Decker, owner of Early Risers, bakes his own bread and decided to bring it out to the market for the first time this Saturday. “I am learning as I go,” Decker said. “This is an opportunity to try something new.”
With a lot of sun, fresh produce, excited volunteers and event production assistance from Sight & Sound Productions, the St. Vincent’s Healthcare Foundation Summer Fun and Wellness Festival was a resounding success.
